You do not need to do much before a window cleaning visit, and nothing on this list is mandatory. But a few small things make the difference between a crew working smoothly and a crew working around obstacles.
Inside the house
- Clear window sills of plants, picture frames, candles and anything fragile.
- Move furniture back roughly half a metre from the glass where you can.
- Open blinds and pull curtains aside so both sides of the glass are reachable.
- Unlock and unlatch windows that need to be opened for track cleaning.
- Let us know about any window that is painted shut, cracked, or has a broken seal.
Outside the house
- Move vehicles out of the driveway if the work includes garage-side or upper elevations.
- Unlock gates and secure pets that use the yard.
- Point out garden beds, low-voltage lighting and irrigation heads near the walls so ladders avoid them.
- Move patio furniture and planters away from the house where windows sit low.
What you do not need to do
Do not pre-clean the glass — it does not help and can leave residue that has to be removed. Do not remove screens; we handle those. You do not need to be home for exterior-only work, as long as we have access to the yard and a water source if required.
What to expect on the day
We confirm the scope with you before starting, protect interior floors and sills where we are working inside, and work elevation by elevation. At the end we walk the job with you if you are home, and we would rather fix a missed spot on the spot than have you notice it later.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be home?
Not for exterior-only work, provided we have yard access. Interior cleaning requires someone to let the crew in and out.
Do you need to use my water or power?
Usually an outdoor tap. If your taps are shut off or not working, tell us in advance and we will plan around it.
What happens if it rains on the scheduled day?
Light rain is generally not a problem for exterior work. If conditions make the work unsafe or ineffective, we contact you and reschedule at no cost.
What if I am not happy with a window?
Tell us and we come back and redo it. That is the whole of our guarantee — no forms, no argument.
